76 page Hardcover book | Sewn bound | Printed on 170gsm Uncoated paper

In 2009 I traveled to Ukraine with the support of the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline. I intended to document life in the shadow of the Chernobyl disaster, the focus of the project specifically was on the families who had chosen to remain living within the contaminated exclusion zone.

In this re-edit of that project I mix photographs from within the exclusion zone with those in the communities on the outskirts of the zone and in Kiev where the majority of evacuated families were re-homed. I have chosen this set based on the feeling and mood of the images as much as their content. using many previously un-published images, I attempt to share the frustration, desperation and confusion that many of the people I spoke with felt from being ‘re-homed and forgotten’

Without the help of Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline, I wouldn’t have been able to have such intimate access to the many homes, schools and stories that I was lucky enough to experience. With this in mind all profits from this book will go to support the CCLL.
